Terms of Service
Effective October 6, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Begin Solids LLC ("Begin Solids," "we," "us," or "our"). They cover the Begin Solids web app, our websites at beginsolids.com, the free guides and emails we send, and everything else we provide (together, the "Service").
By buying Begin Solids, creating an account, joining a family on Begin Solids, signing up for a free guide, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms, our Privacy Policy, our Return Policy, and our End User License Agreement. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.
Please read the sections called "Health, safety and medical disclaimer" and "No guarantee of results" carefully. They explain what Begin Solids is and what it isn't.
1. Who can use Begin Solids
- You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding contract to buy Begin Solids, create an account, or join a family.
- Begin Solids is made for parents and caregivers in the United States. It is not directed to children, and children should not use it.
- If you use Begin Solids on behalf of someone else, such as a partner, family member or childcare provider, you confirm you have their permission.
2. What Begin Solids is
Begin Solids is an educational tool for parents and caregivers who are introducing solid food to a baby or feeding a toddler. It includes guided programs, written guides and lessons, a library of foods, recipes and meals, a meal planner and grocery list, a daily feeding log, allergen tracking, nutrient information, and tools to share a family's plan with other caregivers.
Begin Solids provides general information. It summarizes guidance published by public health and medical organizations, such as the American Academy of Pediatrics, and names those sources in its content. Begin Solids is not the source of that guidance, and it is not affiliated with or endorsed by those organizations.
3. Health, safety and medical disclaimer
Begin Solids is not medical advice. Nothing in the Service is medical, nutritional, dietary, allergy or health care advice, diagnosis or treatment, and nothing in it is tailored to your child. Using Begin Solids does not create a doctor-patient, dietitian-client or any other professional relationship between you and Begin Solids or anyone who contributes to it.
Talk to your child's pediatrician. Always get the advice of your child's pediatrician or another qualified health care provider before you start solid foods, introduce any allergen, change your child's diet, or act on anything you read in Begin Solids. This is especially important if your child:
- was born early or had a low birth weight;
- has eczema, a known food allergy, a past allergic reaction, or a family history of food allergy;
- has any medical condition, developmental delay, feeding or swallowing difficulty, reflux, or a condition affecting their muscles or airway;
- is not showing the signs of readiness for solid food described by their pediatrician; or
- is not growing or gaining weight as expected.
Never disregard professional medical advice or delay seeking it because of something in Begin Solids.
Emergencies. If your child is choking, having trouble breathing, having a severe allergic reaction (such as swelling of the face, lips or tongue, trouble breathing, repeated vomiting, hives spreading over the body, or unusual sleepiness or floppiness), or has any other emergency, call 911 right away. Begin Solids is not an emergency service, and you should never use it to decide whether to get emergency help.
Choking and gagging. Any food can cause choking. Begin Solids describes common ways to prepare and serve foods for different ages, but it cannot make any food safe for every child. You are responsible for:
- supervising your child at all times while they eat, with your child seated upright;
- preparing food in a size, shape and texture suited to your child's own skills, whatever age a food or preparation is listed for;
- following the advice of your child's pediatrician; and
- knowing how to respond to choking. Begin Solids strongly recommends that every caregiver take a certified infant CPR and first aid course. Reading about emergency steps in Begin Solids does not replace that training.
Food allergies. Introducing allergens, such as peanut, egg, milk, wheat, soy, sesame, tree nuts, fish and shellfish, carries a risk of an allergic reaction, including a severe or life-threatening one. Allergen programs and schedules in Begin Solids are general and educational. Follow your child's pediatrician or allergist on whether, when and how to introduce each allergen. The allergen tracker and daily log are record-keeping tools. They don't diagnose, predict or prevent allergies, and a reaction logged in Begin Solids is not reviewed by anyone.
Nutrition information. Nutrient values in Begin Solids are estimates, largely based on U.S. Department of Agriculture data for typical foods. Actual values vary with the specific food, brand, preparation and portion. They're provided for general interest and are not meant for managing any medical condition, special diet, or growth concern.
Food safety. You are responsible for safe food handling, storage, cooking temperatures, and checking ingredients and labels for allergens and for your child's needs. Follow current food safety guidance, including avoiding honey before 12 months of age.
Guidance changes. Recommendations about infant feeding change over time as research develops. We work to keep Begin Solids accurate and current, but we can't promise that every item reflects the latest guidance at the moment you read it, or that it's free of errors.
4. No guarantee of results
Every child is different. Begin Solids does not promise or guarantee any particular result, including that your child will:
- accept, eat or enjoy any particular food, texture or amount;
- avoid developing a food allergy, or outgrow one;
- stop gagging, refusing food or being picky;
- gain weight, grow, sleep, or develop in any particular way; or
- meet any nutrient target.
Programs, plans and schedules in Begin Solids are general frameworks. You may need to go slower, change course, or stop, based on your child and your pediatrician's advice. Stories, reviews and testimonials describe individual experiences. They are not typical results or a promise of what will happen for your family.
5. Your responsibility and assumption of risk
You are solely responsible for the decisions you make about feeding your child and for how you use the information in Begin Solids. Feeding a baby or toddler involves inherent risks, including choking, allergic reactions and foodborne illness. To the fullest extent the law allows, you understand and accept those risks when you choose to act on any information in the Service.
6. Your purchase
- One-time payment. Begin Solids is sold for a one-time price, shown at checkout. There's no subscription and nothing renews.
- Access. Your purchase gives your family access to the Begin Solids app, including content we add later, for as long as we offer the app. "Lifetime access" refers to the lifetime of the Begin Solids app, and we can't promise to operate it forever. If we ever stop offering the app, we'll give you notice in advance, where we reasonably can, and a way to export what you've recorded.
- Payments by Stripe. Payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. Stripe's own terms and privacy policy apply to the payment. We don't receive or store your full card details.
- Prices and offers. Prices are in U.S. dollars and may change. From time to time we offer a lower price for a limited time, such as a new-subscriber offer. An offer applies only during the period shown and can't be combined with another offer or applied to an earlier purchase. A lower price offered later, or to someone else, doesn't entitle you to a refund of the difference.
- Taxes. You're responsible for any taxes that apply to your purchase, other than taxes on our income.
- Refunds. The Begin Solids app comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee: ask within 30 days of your purchase and we'll refund it in full. Other refunds, and the products the guarantee doesn't cover, are described in our Return Policy.
- Chargebacks and refunds end access. If a payment is refunded, reversed or disputed, access to Begin Solids ends for the whole family. We keep the family's information in place in case access returns, as described in our Privacy Policy. If you have a problem with a charge, please contact us first at support@beginsolids.com. We'll work with you to fix it.
7. Your account and your family
- Use an email address you can receive mail at, give accurate information, and keep your password private. You're responsible for everything that happens under your account.
- A family's owner can invite other caregivers and choose what each person can do and which children they can see. The owner is responsible for inviting only people they want to share the family's information with, including information about the children. Everyone who joins a family agrees to these Terms.
- Tell us right away at support@beginsolids.com if you think someone has used your account without permission.
8. Emails
If you sign up for a free guide, we'll email you the guide and a short series of emails about Begin Solids, including offers. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link. We'll still send emails you need to use the Service, such as receipts, your account setup link, invitations and password resets.
9. Our content and your license
The Service, including its guides, lessons, programs, food, recipe and meal pages, photographs, illustrations, text, design, software, and the Begin Solids name and logo, belongs to Begin Solids LLC or its licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark and other laws. Your right to use the app and its content is described in our End User License Agreement. In short: you may use Begin Solids for your own family's personal, noncommercial use, and you may not copy, publish, resell, share outside your family, or collect it in bulk.
10. What you record
What you log, plan and record in Begin Solids is yours. You give us permission to store, copy and process it only to provide the Service to you and the people in your family, to keep it secure, and as described in our Privacy Policy. You can export or delete it at any time. Don't record anything in Begin Solids that you don't have the right to share with the people in your family.
11. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- try to access another family's information, or get around the app's access rules or security;
- share your login with people outside your family (invite them instead);
- copy, scrape, download in bulk, or redistribute content from the Service;
- use the Service, or any content from it, to train or build any AI or machine learning model, or to create a competing product;
- reverse engineer the Service, except where the law allows it despite this restriction;
- sign up other people for our free guides or emails without their permission, or submit false information;
- disrupt, overload or attack the Service, or use it for anything unlawful, harmful or misleading.
12. Third-party services and links
The Service relies on other companies, including Stripe for payments, and may link to outside websites and sources, such as the organizations whose guidance we summarize. We don't control those services or sites and aren't responsible for them. Your use of them is governed by their own terms.
13. Changes to the Service
We may add, change or remove features and content, including to reflect new feeding guidance. We won't make changes that remove the core of what you bought without notice.
14. Suspension and ending your use
You can stop using Begin Solids and delete your account at any time from the Account screen. We may suspend or end your access if you break these Terms, if a payment is reversed, or if we need to in order to protect the Service, other families, or to follow the law. Where we reasonably can, we'll tell you why. Sections that by their nature should survive, including the disclaimers, limits on liability, indemnity and dispute terms, survive after your use ends.
15. Disclaimer of warranties
To the fullest extent the law allows, the Service and all content in it are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, accuracy, completeness, or that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure or error free. Some states don't allow certain warranty exclusions, so some of these may not apply to you.
16. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows:
- Begin Solids LLC and its owners, employees, contractors and contributors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits or goodwill, arising from or related to the Service or these Terms, even if we were told such damages were possible.
- Begin Solids LLC is not liable for any injury, illness, allergic reaction, choking incident or other harm to any person that results from decisions made about feeding a child, whether or not those decisions were based on information in the Service.
- Our total liability for all claims arising from or related to the Service or these Terms is limited to the amount you paid for Begin Solids in the 12 months before the claim arose, or $100 if you paid nothing.
Some states don't allow these limits, so they may not fully apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that can't be limited under applicable law.
17. Indemnity
To the extent the law allows, you agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless Begin Solids LLC and its owners, employees and contractors from claims, losses and expenses, including reasonable attorneys' fees, arising from your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the Service, or content you record or share through it.
18. Disputes and governing law
- Talk to us first. Most concerns can be settled quickly. Before bringing any claim, please email support@beginsolids.com with a description of the issue, and give us 30 days to try to resolve it.
- Governing law. These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia and applicable U.S. federal law, without regard to conflict of law rules.
- Where disputes are heard. Any dispute that isn't resolved informally will be brought only in the state or federal courts located in Virginia, and you and we consent to their jurisdiction. Either party may instead bring an individual claim in small claims court if it qualifies.
- Individual claims. To the extent the law allows, claims may be brought only in an individual capacity, not as a plaintiff or class member in any class or representative action.
19. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. If a change matters, we'll tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms. The date at the top shows when these Terms were last updated.
20. General
- These Terms, with our Privacy Policy, Return Policy and End User License Agreement, are the entire agreement between you and Begin Solids about the Service.
- If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.
- If we don't enforce a part of these Terms right away, we haven't waived our right to enforce it later.
- You may not transfer these Terms or your account without our written consent. We may transfer them as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets.
- We're not responsible for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control.
